{"id":958,"date":"2022-07-21T13:04:35","date_gmt":"2022-07-21T20:04:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/satirpacific.org\/wp\/?post_type=product&#038;p=958"},"modified":"2025-07-02T22:55:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-03T05:55:10","slug":"the-self-its-nature-and-structure-according-to-the-satir-model","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/satirpacific.org\/wp\/product\/the-self-its-nature-and-structure-according-to-the-satir-model\/","title":{"rendered":"The SELF: Its Nature and Structure according to the Satir Model"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Much has been said and written about the Self in psychology, philosophy and religion.\u00a0 Virginia Satir also considered the Self as a core concept in her therapeutic practice.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Stuart Piddocke has had a keen interest in exploring the many views scholars have about the Self.\u00a0 In this writing he reviews some of the major perceptions and interpretations of the concept of Self.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Piddocke reviews Virginia Satir&#8217;s writing and articulates his cohesive picture of Satir&#8217;s concept of Self.\u00a0 He shows how Satir&#8217;s concept parallels some of the general explanations as well as her own unique view of Self.<\/p>\n<p>This publication is an expansion of an article Dr. Piddocke wrote for <em>The Satir Journal: Transformational Systemic Therapy, <\/em> Vol. 4, No. 1, 2010, pp. 109-154.<\/p>\n<p>It is intended to help the serious learner and practitioners of the Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy Model (STST) to consider, at a more academic level, the meaning\u00a0 of what Virginia Satir concept of Self is and could be.<\/p>\n<p>The Satir Institute published his document in honor of Virginia Satir&#8217;s 100th Birthday celebration in 2016.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Much has been said and written about the Self in psychology, philosophy and religion.\u00a0 Virginia Satir also considered the Self as a core concept in her therapeutic practice.
